45. The Book of Oaths (qasamah), Retaliation and Blood Money

Jabir said:"The Messenger of Allah ruled that every clan should take part in paying the blood money, and it is not permissible for a freed slave to take a Muslim (other than the one who freed him) as his Mawla (Patron) without the permission (of his former master who set him free)"

أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا، يَقُولُ كَتَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى كُلِّ بَطْنٍ عُقُولَةً وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لِمَوْلًى أَنْ يَتَوَلَّى مُسْلِمًا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ ‏.‏
