46. The Book of Cutting off the Hand of the Thief

Narrated by:Anas said

It was narrated that Anas said:"Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, cut off (a thief's hand) for a shield that was worth five Dirhams.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ قَطَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رضى الله عنه فِي مِجَنٍّ قِيمَتُهُ خَمْسَةُ دَرَاهِمَ ‏.‏ هَذَا الصَّوَابُ ‏.‏
